When you prefer coffee to headaches with your website maintenance
FAQs
How much will it cost?
How much it costs depends on the site itself. There are ready-made sites available to purchase, muh like a template you would purchase from a template website. However, also included in that is a complete content management system. Not only do you pourchase the template, you also purchase everything to make the site run simply and efficiently. When we build your site, we will put it up on our own webspace for development, that way you can see what's happening. That way you can 'try before you buy', you can test-run your site to ensure it does what you want it to do. Then, what you see is really what you get. When you ousrchase the site, you purchase all the pages you have seen, including any 'administration' pages. Not only will you have the site itself but you will also have everything to maintain it.
And then?
And then you buy the webspace and domain name. What that means is you own both the webspace and the domain name. They are entirely registered to you, not us. All you need to do is send us your login details for your webspace, we'll do the rest. What we are trying to avoid is the situation where someone has bought a site and paid sometimes hundreds for updates, only to find that the domain name and the webspace is registered to the design company. Once you have puschased one of our sites and it's up and running, it's running on your webspace under your domain.
Please note that not any webspace will do, these sites are based on Active Server Pages, a scripting language much like PHP and a few others. However, if you do not buy the right hosting the site will not work. The good news is we can advise you on hosting.
How much are Updates/Additions?
It depends on what additions/updates you want. If it means a rebuild of some of the site, again we'll be happy to discuss prices and give you the opportunity to test them out before you part with your cash. If you're talking about adding to/updating what contents you already have, that comes free. The whole point of these sites is that you manage the content yourself. Once the site does what you want it to do and it's up on your space, that should be the last you need to pay us. The rest of the management is entirely up to you.
Do you provide support?
If you really need it. While we make the maintenance as simple as possible, sometimes it doesn't always look that way to a customer who has never done anything with web design. If you can fill in a form and have a little knowledge of word processing, that's about all you need. Oh, and don't forget the common sense. All you have to do is fill in the form and click the button, the site takes care of the rest. We anticipate that by the time your site is ready to go on its own webspace, your skills would have reached the stage where you can look after the site yourself. But if you need to ask that metaphorical 'dumb question', feel free. We usually put it some dummy contents to give you an idea of the look and feel of the site. If you're not sure, all you have to do is compare what's in the maintenance section to what's on the page. That will give you an idea of what goes where. If not, we're only an e-mail message away.
